Main idea
I think we need to have garden areas that are:
– Surrounded by dg or small gravel for fire safety.
– Each tree needs to have mulch on the bottom.
– The mulch needs to be delimited very clearly with a barrier that will help hold the water and the mulch.
– Very sparse vegetation to keep it clear easily.
– Big rocks (if its possible to afford or we get someone to donate) for a pretty rockscape.
– Small solar lights on the trees. These are very small and just for accent, not real light to respect the night darkness to see the stars.
– Small solar light for every corner of the property.
– Every plant protected from gophers with thick fencing material .
– Every tree needs at least 2 steel stakes
– Tree could be fertilized once a year during the beginning of the spring with an organic fertilizer to preserve the soil.
Some of the concepts down here have plants that are not appropriate for the desert, but is to show the idea.

Perimeter ideas
Perimeter with privacy trees
Great for privacy, pepper trees grow fast and are cheap. Would need to be trimmed once a year probably. Not completely fire safe.
Italian cypress is better for privacy but less fire safe and a lot more expensive.
If more privacy is needed Oleanders could be planted but they are poisonous is people or animals eat it.
Perimeter with sparse palo verdes or cacti.
Other fencing or wall for privacy with a few cactus or other fire safe trees like palo verdes with dg around them.
